1962 Olivetti Lettera 22 Serial # 899948 1962 Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter, Serial # 899948 Dallas Kirkpatrick's 1962 Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter. 2019-04-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Dallas Kirkpatrick: 1962 Olivetti Lettera 22 Serial # 899948 The ultra-portable Lettera 22! I really enjoy this machine, and it's one of my favorites to type on. I haven't had it long, but if I was going to travel with a typewriter, this would be the one that I would take. I could see how people with large hands could have issues using this for long periods of time, as the keys are quite small and close together, but I really like it! I bought it locally for $45.

I THINK this is a '62, but as noted by many of the collectors on this site, the Olivetti serial numbers are kind of all over the place, especially the Underwood-Olivetti branded ones. If I am wrong and somebody can explain why, please let me know!

I am a Typewriter Enthusiast from Saskatchewan, Canada!

I fell in love with typewriters around 2015, when I purchased my first (and easily favourite and most valuable) typewriter; a mint condition, all original 1933 Imperial Good Companion. I bought it for $60 from a lady whose father used it in Vienna and North Africa during WWII. Some of my favorite typing machines are my desert sand '58 Smith-Corona Silent Super, and my '62 Olivetti Lettera.

Today, I love every aspect of typewriter hunting. I enjoy searching for good deals on specific models that interest me, doing a bunch of research about each typewriter that I get, and cleaning and using every machine that I can! I mostly prefer portables from the 20's to the late 60's.

A couple of typewriters that I don't yet have and hope to own one day are an Olympia SM3 De Luxe, a Hermes Rocket/Baby, and a Smith-Corona Skywriter.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Lettera 22 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Lettera 22 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
